Introducing a $25 Reunions Registration Fee
This modest registration fee helps us maintain and grow the programs alumni love, create more opportunities for connection, and plan thoughtfully based on accurate attendance.
More on the Economics of Reunions
This year, Reunions includes a $25 registration fee for everyone over 10 years old. Our goal is to protect and enhance the Reunions experience—not to change its spirit. This change allows us to preserve the welcoming, high-quality, community-centered nature of Reunions.
Need help with the fee? We don’t want cost to be a barrier. If the registration fee presents a hardship, please reach out. We’re happy to help.

The Economics of Reunions
Reunions is the single most complex and resource-intensive alumni event the college hosts. It is a multi-day, community-wide weekend that includes shared programming, meals, hospitality, and campus traditions.
During the most recent Reunions, 1,033 attendees checked-in over the course of the weekend. That number reflects the scale of planning, staffing, and coordination required across campus.
In 2025, revenue from meal tickets and dorm housing covered about 30% of the total cost. The remaining roughly 70% was supported by the college, allowing Reunions to remain accessible and community-centered.
We know that changes to long-standing traditions raise questions. We are committed to transparency in how Reunions is planned and supported.
Why are accurate attendance numbers important?
Reunions require months of advance planning. Many commitments, such as catering minimums, staffing schedules, and space reservations, must be finalized well before the weekend begins. Because of this, accurate attendance information matters. We know that travel plans change and that life intervenes. Even so, when large numbers of people register but are unable to attend, it affects food orders, staffing levels, and dorm reservations.
A modest registration fee is one way to improve attendance accuracy. More accurate registration helps us plan a weekend that feels generous rather than stretched, with adequate food, gathering spaces, and programming.
We know some alumni come to campus without registering or checking-in, but accurate attendance numbers are essential to sustaining Reunions over time. By understanding the true cost per attendee, we can make informed planning decisions that reduce avoidable costs and support the long-term health of Reunions.
How does the scale of this event impact planning?
Reunions represent a significant share of the college’s annual investment in alumni engagement. For context, the entire annual budget for alumni programming across 12 chapter cities represents roughly 2.5% of what is spent on Reunions.
Because of that scale, even modest improvements in attendance accuracy can have meaningful effects. Better planning allows us to steward college resources carefully and grow support for other alumni programs and events throughout the year.
Many colleges have shifted toward high-ticket reunion models. Reed has intentionally chosen a different path, keeping Reunions modestly priced so it remains a shared, community-centered experience rather than a premium one.
